SP not yet approached by any party for post-poll support: Amar

NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party today said that none of the political parties, including Congress, have approached it yet with a proposal seeking post-poll support.

"It would be prudent to wait till the election results are declared. I have not been approached by any group. No Congress leader has contacted me," Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh told media persons here.

The SP leader added that till Congress makes any official statement (on alliance), he will not say anything.

Asked if he would hobnob with the 'Third Front' if Mayawati has an understanding with Congress, Singh said, "I won't answer any hypothetical question. There is no point in discussing the future."

Singh had claimed yesterday that Congress had kept its channels open with BSP.

He said that SP could not go with the 'Third Front' as Mayawati was already there in it, adding, that he kept in touch with CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury.

On JD(S) chief Deve Gowda's son H D Kumaraswamy paying a visit to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi yesterday evening, the SP leader said that "the Third Front has now lost two wickets-- one each to NDA and UPA".

TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao did a u-turn on his political commitments by attending the NDA rally in Ludhiana after earlier showing support to the Third Front.
