SP demands ED inquiry into Mayawati's assets

On Tuesday, when Mayawati filed nomination for RS, she declared her assets at Rs 111.64 crore. This is double the amount that was declared in 2007.

LUCKNOW: Barely days after coming to power in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party today fired a salvo at BSP supremo Mayawati demanding an inquiry by Enforcement Directorate into the assets of the outgoing Chief Minister.

"An inquiry should be conducted into the assets earned by BSP supremo Mayawati by the ED," party general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav told reporters at SP office here.

Yadav, party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's cousin, said this while replying to media queries regarding increase in Mayawati's wealth.

On Tuesday, when Mayawati filed nomination for Rajya Sabha, she declared her assets at Rs 111.64 crore. This is double the amount (Rs 52 crore) that was declared in 2007.
