Former MP and minister Nishad will be party's candidate for Rajya Sabha by-elections, SP National General Secretary Ramgopal Yadav said.

LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party today declared Vishwambhar Prasad Nishad as its candidate for the Rajya Sabha by-elections.

Former MP and minister Nishad will be party's candidate for Rajya Sabha by-elections, SP National General Secretary Ramgopal Yadav said.

The seat was vacant after Bahujan Samaj Party MP, SP Singh Baghel resigned on March 12. The state has a total of 31 seats in the Upper House of Parliament.

However, the dates of the elections have not been declared yet.
