SP accuses Mayawati govt of framing party MP, MLAs
Accusing Mayawati govt of framing its MP and MLAs in fake cases, Samajwadi Party demanded that governor should intervene and immediately convene a session of the state legislature to discuss the matter.
"We have requested the governor earlier too to convene the Vidhan Sabha for discussing pressing issues and we again seek his intervention in the case relating to fake charges against SP MP and MLAs besides independent MLA, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya," Leader of the Opposition Shivpal Singh Yadav told reporters here.
Alleging that a move was afoot to invoke the tough Gangsters Act against Raja Bhaiya, MP Shailendra Kumar, and legislators Vinod Kumar Saroj and Akshay Pratap Singh, he threatened a massive agitation.
Raja Bhaiya and others were arrested on December 19 on charges of kidnapping and loot.
"During the last regime too, Mayawati had targeted Raja Bhaiya and tried to harm him in every way," Yadav said stressing that the government has vindictive motives against him.
On the suspension of BSP MLA from Banda, Puroshottam Narain Diwedi facing rape charges, Yadav said it was an eyewash.
Dwivedi ought to have been expelled from the party and sent to jail the very day when the teenaged girl had levelled rape charges against him, Yadav said alleging that the police is protecting the accused.
"Instead of taking action against the accused, the police sent the victim (girl) to jail," he said adding the medical examination which is most crucial for proving the charges was also ordered very late.
