Soren takes oath, rolls out red carpet for Tata’s Nano
JMM chief Shibu Soren was on Wednesday sworn in as Jharkhand chief minister. Governor Syed Sibte Razi administered the oath of office to Mr Soren at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan here.
Soon after taking oath, Mr Shibu Soren rolled out the red carpet to the Tatas urging them to shift the beleaguered Nano venture from Singur to Jharkhand. Speaking to reporters, Mr Soren termed the Tatas as Jharkhandis and said they should plan to shift the project there if they are facing trouble in West Bengal. Tatas are producing steel in Jharkhand so they are our own people, Jharkhandis. If they can manufacture steel here why cant they build the Nano here too, said Mr Soren.
Earlier, eleven ministers also took oath along with Mr Soren. All the Independents, except former CM Madhu Koda and Chandra Prakash Chaudhary have been retained in the new ministry. The new state cabinet has convened a special assembly session on August 29 to prove majority.
Stating that education and employment opportunities could help check the problem of extremism, which is not only a law and order or a social problem, Mr Soren said.
