Soren assures protection to investors
Blaming the previous governments for signing MoUs without ensuring land and water, Jharkhand Chief minister Shibu Soren assured protection for industrialists.
"The previous governments signed a number of MoUs, without bothering how to provide land and water, but my government will assist them in every possible way, including providing them protection," Soren told a news conference here.
When a reporter drew his attention to reports that attacks could force investors to wind up business in the state, Soren said "Some companies are using brokers to acquire land, leading to the trouble."
"Nobody will go, the government will provide them all their requirements," he said.
The assurance came in the wake of some people of Bansa village in Sareikela Kharsawan district forcing the management of Kohinoor Steel to halt production on Wednesday and roughing up officials of Jupiter company and Bhushan Steel last month.
There was also resistance in Singbhum at Gumla and Khunti villages where steel major Arcelormittal has identified land for a multi-crore steel project.
