Sonia to skip wedding of Alagiri’s son

NEW DELHI: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi will not be travelling to Madurai on November 18 for the wedding of Union minister and DMK strongman M K Alagiri’s son.

Sources said Sonia will not be able to attend the wedding and would instead send a message to the family . PM Manmohan Singh’s plans are not final yet. Alagiri had personally invited the top Congress duo to his son Dhayanidhi’s wedding in Madurai.

While some may link Sonia’s absence from the wedding with drama over 2G spectrum which on Sunday claimed key DMK minister A Raja, sources said the resignation should not be seen as a message that Congress is planning to snap ties with DMK.
