Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi today expressed anguish over the Bangalore-Nanded Express train accident.

NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi today expressed anguish over the Bangalore-Nanded Express train accident that killed five persons including a party MLA from Karnataka.

Extending her condolences to the families of the deceased, Sonia hoped that adequate relief and rescue work was being undertaken. She also sent her deep condolences to the family of Congress MLA Venkatesh Naik, who was killed in the mishap.

"Very sad to hear about the tragic accident of the Bangalore-Nanded express. My deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

"My condolences also to the family of Congress MLA Shri Venkatesh Nayak who lost his life in this accident", Rahul tweeted.

Five persons, including Nayak were killed and two others injured when a trolley carrying granite hit the train in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh early today.
