JAIPUR: Congress President Sonia Gandhi is likely to make a one-day tour to Rajasthan on March 20 to meet the farmers who have been affected due to extensive damage caused to their crops by unseasonal rain.

"The party president is likely to come to the state on March 20 to review the condition of the farmers at the party level. The programme is being finalised," Rajasthan PCC Vice President Archana Sharma said.

It is likely that Gandhi will meet farmers and speak to them about the losses due to the recent rainfall and hailstorm in the state. A detailed programme will be issued later, she added.

Earlier in the week, unexpected rain caused damage to standing Rabi crops in at least 20 districts of Rajasthan. The state government has directed district officials to conduct surveys to assess crop losses and submit a report to the government at the earliest.
