Sonia Gandhi hoists tricolour at party headquarters

NEW DELHI: Congress President Sonia Gandhi hoisted the tricolour at party headquarters in presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and senior ministers and party leaders.

Gandhi also distributes sweets among children on the occasion.

She, however, refused to take any questions ranging from issues like food security to the Prime Ministerial candidate of Congress for next Lok Sabha polls.

"Today I will only say Happy Independence Day to all of you," was her response to the questions.

Party Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Union Ministers A K Antony, P Chidambaram, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Salman Khurshid and senior leaders Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni and Janardan Dwivedi were among others present on the occasion.
