NEW DELHI: Congress president Sonia Gandhi attended Parliament on Monday, her first working day since her return on Friday following a health check-up in the United States. Gandhi was seen interacting with her party colleagues in the Lok Sabha and, later, at her office in Parliament.

Party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, too, came to Parliament on Monday. This was Sonia’s first public appearance after BJP’s massive victory in UP and Uttarakhand. Party leaders said Sonia might start attending the Congress core committee meetings on parliamentary matters from Tuesday.

Congress circles are hopeful that the leadership and CWC would meet soon to analyse the party’s performance in the just-concluded assembly polls and initiate long pending rejig of the party set-up.

Incidentally, within a day of her return, AICC announced the appointment of MM Hassan, a long-standing loyalist of Oommen Chandy, as interim president of Kerala PCC.
