Somnath Temple in Gujarat declared 'cleanest temple' under SBM: BVG India

Pune: "The Somnath Temple in Gujarat has been declared as the cleanest temple in the country. Under the Swachh Bharat Mission initiative of the Central Government, this temple has been awarded the 'cleanest temple'," a release from BVG India said.

BVG India Company based in Pune has been given the responsibility of maintenance of this temple. Distribution of National Sanitation Awards will be held in Delhi.

The state government had launched a campaign to clean up all the pilgrimage sites in Gujarat. These include Somnath, Girnar, Dwarka, Ambaji, Palitana, Pavagadh, Shyamalaji and many others. Of which, the work of cleaning Somnath and Dwarka was handed over to BVG India limited.


"Seeing the good work there, the government has given the responsibility of maintenance of the 'Statue of Unity' to BVG India Limited," the company release added.

"Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said in a tweeter message about the award of the Somnath Temple, that the award announced by the Ministry of Water, Power and Sanitation has added another feather in the cap of Gujarat. Somnath has become the cleanest temple in the country by strict adherence to the criteria of Swachh Bharat Mission," the release said.

Meanwhile, the company's Chairman and Managing Director Hanmantrao Gaikwad said, "It is our responsibility to keep our country clean and BVG India Limited has been trying hard for this."
