Somnath resigns from SSDA chairman's post

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee resigned from the post of the Chairman of Sriniketan Santinekatan Development Authority.

SANTINIKETAN(WB): Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on tuesday resigned from the post of the Chairman of Sriniketan Santinekatan Development Authority (SSDA).

Sources in SSDA said Chatterjee, Member of Parliament from Bolpur constituency in Birbhum district, forwarded his resignation letter to West Bengal Urban Development minister Asok Bhattacharya.

The cause of his resignation was not known. He has been holding the Charmian's post in SSDA since its formation in 1989.

The SSDA monitors the overall development and urbanisation of Sriniketan-Santiniketan, excluding the area of Visva Bharati.
