Some coal files given to CBI, agency will find rest: Sriprakash Jaiswal

Jaiswal said that while some files related to the allocation of coal blocks had been handed over to CBI, it was the agency which would now find the remaining ones sought by it.

DEORIA: Union Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal today said that while some files related to the allocation of coal blocks had been handed over to CBI, it was the agency which would now find the remaining ones sought by it in connection with its probe into the scam.

Talking to reporters today, Coal Minister Jaiswal said that Sept. 10 was the date by which his Ministry was to have handed over the files to CBI.

Some files in the meantime were handed over to the probe agency, Jaiswal said, adding that CBI would now find the remaining ones.

Responding to a query on the violence in Muzaffarnagar district, the Congress leader said that the Uttar Pradesh government should leave no stone unturned in improving the law and order situation in the affected areas.

Despite a warning from the Union Home Ministry that riots could take place any time and anywhere in the state, UP government had taken no steps to prevent incidents like the one in Muzaffarnagar, Jaiswal alleged.

But instead of going into details like whose fault it was that the riots had taken place, the priority now should be to normalise the situation and provide security to the people, he added.
