Solar scam: CPI(M) demands Oommen Chandy's resignation
NEW DELHI: The CPI(M) today demanded the resignation of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy pending a probe into the "serious allegations" against him in the multi-crore solar power scam.

The Chief Minister should "immediately step down from his post pending a judicial probe into the matter" in view of the "serious allegations" about his alleged links with the perpetrators of the scam, the party Politburo said in a statement here.

The CPI(M) also condemned the "brutal police attacks" on the people protesting against the "inaction" of the state government on the issue.

The scam pertains to two accused cheating a large number of people of hefty amounts by offering them solar energy solutions. It assumed political dimension after two staff members of Chandy's office were allegedly found to have links with the accused.
