Social pension scheme scam detected: says BDO

A scam in the social pension scheme was today busted at 'Pension Adalat' held at Tarudih Panchayat in Palamau district, a government official said.

MEDININAGAR: A scam in the social pension scheme was today busted at 'Pension Adalat' held at Tarudih Panchayat in Palamau district, a government official said here.

"As many as 54 beneficiaries under oldage/widow pension scheme had died during the last five years, but their monthly pension of Rs 400 per head is being drawn fraudulently," Lesliganj Block Development Officer Mohammad Aftab Alam told reporters.

"It is a connivance of local post offices and middlemen," he said, adding he detected the fraud while inspecting the list of four panchayats under his block.

He said action would be taken against the culprits and the entire amount would be taken back.
