Social, economic & political crises mark 2nd term: Congress
Post completion of 100 days of the Modi government's 2nd term, Congress questioned claims of its achievements so far.

Rahul Gandhi, Congress Working Committee member and former party president, tweeted: “Congratulations to the Modi Govt on #100DaysNoVikas, the continued subversion of democracy, a firmer stranglehold on a submissive media to drown out criticism and a glaring lack of leadership, direction & plans where it’s needed the most –to turnaround our ravaged economy.”
At a presser, party spokesman Kapil Sibal said despite the ruling dispensation having clear majority in Parliament, which could have been used for bettering the life of the nation, all that happened during the first 100 days of the Modi regime was a complete slide in economy, growing unemployment, social tension and political crisis from J&K to Assam. He also alleged that the government indulged in unprecedented vendetta politics against opposition leaders, along with a questionable bias in protecting BJP leaders facing serious charges.
Chiding the government for its claims of achievements, Sibal said, “This government is working against the law of gravity and is pretending not to see what the rest of the people are clearly seeing and worried about”.
The former Union minister added: “There is now a major economic crisis and this government appears clueless in dealing with it. GDP has come down to 5%. Small industry and textile sector are in doldrums. Auto industry is facing a huge crisis with about 35 lakh worker laid off, about 300 dealerships closed and factories being shut.” Blaming the PM’s decision of demonetisation as the prime reason for the economic crisis, Sibal said, “Textile sector in deep crisis, 30 million job loss, one-third spinning mills not working to full capacity… Real estate sector too in huge crisis... The overall unemployment rate is around 8.2%; the rupee has fallen steeply. They have no strategy for health and education sectors.”
