SNDP Yogam likely to launch a political party
The SNDP Yogam has received an overwhelming support from its members to launch a political party. But the Yogam has decided not to float the party immediately.

After a special meeting convened by the Yogam leadership at Cherthala, which was at tended by leaders of different SNDP unions, Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan said that the cooperation of the majority community will be sought to form the political party.
He said that the SNDP will try to bring together all for achieving social justice. Vella pally Natesan said that the Yogam would work towards launching the new party before the next assembly election. Yogam has allowed members to contest the forthcoming local elections as `independents'.
SNDP has also decided to organise a “Samrakshana Yatra“ from Kasargod to Thiruvananthapuram. Everyone starting from Nair and Namboodiri to the Scheduled Castes and Tribes can take part in it, he said.
The decision to float a new political party was taken through secret ballot at the meeting that lasted nearly three hours. While close to 500 members voted in favour of floating a party, only about five were against the proposal.
Vellapally Natesan, who faced criticism from both the CPM and the Congress for maintaining ties with the RSS, said that the meeting did not discuss the matter at all. However, BJP state president V Muralidharan said the party would consider a tie-up with any party other than the Congress, the CPM and their allies.
