SMS message from Pakistan threatening blasts in Kerala

KOZHIKODE:The southern cities of Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode have got three SMS messages reportedly from Pakistan warning of bomb blasts this month.

The police control room here, Asianet's Chennai reporter Bimal Roy and Amrita TV's PRO in Thiruvananthapuram Rajesh got the messages late last night, Police Commissioner Anoop Kuruvilla John told the media.

The messages were reportedly sent from Pakistan number +923332631538 asking to contact `KISH' on mobile number 9995336022 which had been traced here, he said. The message read `Calicut blasts planned this month.'

Both Roy and Rajesh informed police about the messages immediately John said. Roy told PTI in Chennai that as soon as he received the message, he lodged a complaint with police. "Senior officials from Kerala have also spoken to me," Roy said.

The SMS is the third such telephonic threat warning of explosions in Kerala since the Bangalore and Ahmedabad blasts last week.

A telephonic threat warning of bomb blasts in Kerala was received by a TV journalist in Bangalore earlier following which the state was put on high alert with security tightened.

On July 29, a police station in Kozhikode got two anonymous calls from different toll-free numbers claiming that powerful bombs have been planted in and around a telephone exchange at the communally-sensitive Nadapuram area. But the calls turned out to be hoax.

Though the calls to police station were initially suspected to have been made from Pakistan, they were later traced to Qatar in the Gulf.
