Smriti Irani raps CBSE for spelling errors in appreciation letter
NEW DELHI: Appreciation letters sent to teachers on behalf of Union HRD minister Smriti Irani have embarrased the nodal ministry for education on account of the glaring spelling errors in the letterhead.

The mistakes were pointed out by one of the recipients, Richa Kumar of DPS Bhilai, who posted the letter on social media. The letter misspells Irani's name in Devanagari, as also the word 'sansadhan'. 'Minister', too, is spelt incorrectly.

"I have sought an explanation from CBSE for the spelling mistakes in some of the letters," she told reporters. She added in a tweet that she "would not misspell my own name in Hindi. Have asked concerned organisation to give an explanation (sic)".

CBSE was quick to tender an apology and promised to reissue the appreciation letters.

The letters were issued in July to students, teachers and principals for commendable performance in 2014-15.
