Smriti Irani cannot match Rahul Gandhi in Amethi says Congress

PANAJI: BJP leader Smriti Irani who is pitted against Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Amethi is a "failed leader" in Goa where she heads the BJP desk, a senior Congress leader today alleged.

Goa's Congress spokesman Sunil Kawathankar alleged that Irani is a "failed candidate" and a "failed leader" and she cannot match Rahul Gandhi who is "strongly against corruption in the country".

"Has Smriti Irani managed to curb corruption in Goa? People are fed up of corruption in Goa," Kawathankar told reporters here.He said the BJP-led Goa government, overseen by Irani, had failed to crack the rape case of a seven-year-old girl in Vasco.

"Has Irani warned her government against such lethargy?" Kawthankar questioned. He alleged that the BJP-led Goa government was involved in arm twisting the media, businessmen and even government servants.
