Deputy chief minister CN Ashwath Narayan on Wednesday launched Smart Kiosk, a product developed by Wipro GE Healthcare to collect swab samples for Covid-19 tests, in Bengaluru. The company has developed the kiosks under its corporate social responsibility initiative to protect patients, doctors and paramedics.

The kiosks help separate physicians and patients in different rooms while the sample is being collected. Being able to perform a test without contact with one another reduces anxiety for both patients and physician staff, the deputy chief minister said. This would also reduce the need for more PPE kits, he added. The kiosks help healthcare workers to collect swab samples without coming into direct physical contact with people.

Wipro GE Healthcare has provided 15 kiosks to the government free of cost. “The role of digital healthcare in this procedure is very important. Sample collection kiosks can be carried around anywhere safely and are easily maintainable,” Narayan said.
