Smart City project would benefit very small part of Indore: PIL
INDORE: Madhya Pradesh High Court today served notices to the Centre, the state government and the Indore Municipal Corporation on a PIL seeking stay to the Smart City project here alleging that it would benefit only a small section of population.

The petition, filed by Centre for Environment Protection Research and Development ( CEPRD), today came up before the bench of Justices Shubhada R Waghmare and Sujoy Paul.

CEPRD lawyer Abhinav Dhanotkar told reporters that according to the PIL, the project would develop only the Rajwada (palace) area.

This area constitutes merely 2.18 per cent of Indore city, and hence the project wouldn't benefit most of the population, but would put a burden on the municipal coffers, he said.
