Smart Cities India Foundation: Bengaluru can become smart capital of India
BENGALURU: The Smart Cities India Foundation, chaired by former chief secretary A Ravindra, hosted a workshop on creating smart solutions for Bengaluru on Wednesday. The event was attended by dozens of officials from industry verticals and government agencies.

“The objective is to understand the purpose and features of the Smart Cities mission launched by the Government of India and explore the scope for smart city initiatives in Bengaluru, which has the potential to become the smart capital of India,“ Ravindra told ET.

The Foundation, which counts Brigade Enterprises CMD MR Jaishankar and an IISc professor on its board, was set up as a nonprofit group to catalyse the creation of smart and sustainable cities in India.

During the event, administrators from the BBMP, the Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation, and the Bangalore Traffic Police presented the basic decision-making frameworks that are in place for smart city planning, while various case studies on Electronic City, Indiranagar, and Mumbai's Bhendi Bazaar were illustrated by the officials.
