Slum Rehabilitation Authority starts Biometric-Enabled Slum Hutment Survey in Mumbai, Thane
The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has started Biometric Slum Hutment Survey that will help existing slum dwellers establishing their residence proofs.

On Friday, the survey was started from the slum of Mogra village and Majaswadi of Jogeshwari suburb in Mumbai. The initiative will provide slum dwellers the ‘Right of Residence’, SRA said in a statement.
Under the programme, all the slum dwellers in Mumbai and Thane region will be surveyed. Following this Survey, the slum-dweller will be provided with a ‘Smart Card’ that will act as a proof of survey as a slum-dwellers and his residence. The Survey will also ensure rehabilitation of slums, hutments in a proper and systematic manner.
The program that will be using Geographical Information System (GIS) Map is expected to benefit slum dwellers and ensure housing for all legal slum dwellers. The survey will compile digital maps of all the hutments in the region.
