The ruling Congress in Karnataka has landed itself in a controversy with cabinet minister Shivaraj Thangadagi asking his partymen to give a tight slap on the face if any youth or student uttered the name, Modi.

The Kannada & Culture Minister, while campaigning for the party in Koppal Lok Sabha seat on Sunday, said the PM promised to create 20 million jobs a year, and if he had walked the talk, the country would have had 200 million new jobs in the past 10 years. But the PM was now asking the unemployed youth to go and sell Pakoras, the minister said, and added if they still uttered the name Modi, they deserve a slap.

Thangadagi further attacked the BJP for soliciting votes though the party, he alleged, did not release a penny to take up drought relief work in Karnataka forcing the state to move the Supreme Court.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister and Dharwad BJP candidate Pralhad Joshi wondered if the Congress hands had enough stregth to slap people who chanted Modi.
