Slain Police inspector Sharma to be cremated on Saturday

Mohan Chand Sharma will be cremated in New Delhi this evening.

NEW DELHI: Mohan Chand Sharma, the Inspector of Delhi Police who was killed in an encounter with militants, will be cremated here this evening.

The 43-year-old officer of the Delhi Police's Special Cell will be cremated at the Nigambodh Ghat at around 4 pm, Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said.

Sharma served the city police for 19 years before he succumbed to bullet injuries sustained during a fierce encounter with five heavily-armed terrorists at a house in south Delhi yesterday. (Watch)

Considered an encounter specialist and posted with elite anti-terror squad Special Cell, Sharma was a highly decorated officer with seven gallantry medals to his credit, including President's Medal for Gallantry.
