Slain navigator of Porbandar trawler was imprisoned in Pak
The slain navigator of the Porbandar trawler used by the terrorists to land in Mumbai had been imprisoned in a Pakistani jail for six months, Coast Guard sources said here today.

MUMBAI: The slain navigator of the Porbandar trawler used by the terrorists to land in Mumbai had been imprisoned in a Pakistani jail for six months, Coast Guard sources said here today. Amar Singh Solanki had been arrested by Pakistani authorities for straying into Pakistani waters illegally for fishing and had served time in a Pakistani jail for six months, the sources said.
Solanki had been found in the engine room of the fishing vessel 'Kuber' that was drifting after he was killed and the terrorists boarded the inflatable rubber vessel which they used to sail to Mumbai. The fishing trawler had set sail from Porbander on November 13 with a crew of five and was next seen when a Coast Guard helicopter found it drifing in the Arabian Sea.
The Coast Guard also found a satellite phone and a Global Positioning System on the vessel which indicated a route from Karachi to Mumbai and another for a return on November 28, the authorities said. The terror attacks took place in the country's financial capital on November 26 in which two hotels, a rail terminus and one building were attacked by a group of terrorists leaving over 180 dead and above 250 injured.
The Gujarat police have submitted a report on his antecedents and nothing suspicious has been found regarding Solanki, Mumbai police officials said. None of the other four crew members of the 'Kuber' had ever been arrested for fishing illegally in Pakistan, they said.
