AIZAWL: The 'Skill India' programme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi should be implemented by giving importance to skill development in educational institutions, Mizoram governor Lt General (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma said today.

The governor stressed the need for quality education for skill development while inaugurating the Human Resources Conclave' organised jointly by the North East Consultancy Services (NECS) and department of management, Mizoram University.

While Mizoram has high literacy rate, he said, steps should be taken to sharpen work-oriented skills for survival.

"Such development should not only be for finding jobs, but also to undertake ventures enabling to create jobs for others," the governor said.
