Six operatives of Jammat-Ul-Mujahideen arrested in Assam

According to police, there is 50 to 60 operative of JMB operating in Assam. Several top leaders of JMB from Bangladesh have visited Assam in past.

GUWAHATI: Six operatives of Jehadi outfits, Jamaat-ul Mujahideen was arrested in different areas of Assam. Arms were also recovered from them.

Inspector General of Police L.R. Bishnoi said, “In September this year police had busted a camp of Jehadi terror outfit in Chirang in Lower Assam and as a follow up action Md Anser Ali was picked up from Barama. Based on his revelation one Md Ikram Hussain who was the member of the training camp at Dawkhanagar was picked up from Barbari.”

He added that police along with CRPF arrested one Md Abdul Razzak at Chapaguri. “On his revelation one Monirul Islam was apprehended. Recruitment and training of cadres for Jehad from various districts was taking place by indoctrination led and funded by Monirul.”

On his inputs police later apprehended Md Saddam Hussain, Md Makibul. Jamaat-Ul Mujahideen Bangladesh’s key operative Sahanur Alam and one of the prime accused in Burdwan blast case was arrested by NIA last year. He has set up an elaborate network in Assam.

According to police, there is 50 to 60 operative of JMB operating in Assam. Several top leaders of JMB from Bangladesh have visited Assam in past.
