Six Naxals killed in an encounter in West Bengal

Six Naxals, including a woman cadre, & a CRPF jawan were killed.

WEST MIDNAPORE: Six Naxals, including a woman cadre, and a CRPF jawan were killed today after a night-long encounter with the paramilitary force in the district of West Bengal.

Acting on a specific intelligence, a joint-team of the CRPF and special anti-Naxal force SAF went into the operation in the dense forests under Golatore police station last night, CRPF sources said.

Six bodies were found from the site of the encounter which ended in the wee hours today, they said, adding twelve weapons, including SLRs and INSAS rifles, were also recovered.

The slain jawan has been identified as constable Ashish Tiwari, they said.

According to initial reports, one of the six dead is suspected to be Siddhu Soren, a top Naxal commander in of the state.

The identity is being checked, they said.
