Srinagar: Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Wednesday said that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved by 90 percent under the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government but the non performance of the elected National Conference government is pushing youth into hopelessness.

Sharma alleged that the NC’s failures has forced people to re-think whether the Lieutenant Governor’s administration was better for the governance on ground. He said that the NC government has failed to address the concerns of youth despite the safety and security provided by the Prime Minister and Home Minister.

“The situation has improved 90 percent. The PM and HM gave safety and security and now the elected government should provide employment to youth. However, the elected government hides its failures and inefficiencies by raking up hollow issues which don’t impact the youngster on ground. Youth are feeling hopeless because of unemployment and other issues concerning them,” said Sharma. He accused the NC of deflecting the attention of youth the policies and programs of the central government meant for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“An elected government is the cornerstone of democracy but the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has forced people to think if the erstwhile LG administration was good for them. People are forced to do comparisons as no government is visible on ground,” said Sharma.

The BJP leader alleged that the youngsters here were the victims of the politicians here and they would have to face repercussions if they ever raised voice against them.

“When law and order was in the hands of these politicians violence and guns ruled the streets here. Rahul Gandhi had once said that controlling militancy was impossible…but today we see youngsters freely moving on the boulevard, along Dal Lake and having ice cream without fearing anyone,” said Sharma. He said that the pertinent question to ask is, “Who had created this atmosphere of fear and for whom?”
