Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the recent developments in Bangladesh is a matter of concern for Assam.

Talking to mediapersons on Tuesday Sarma said that atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh have been increasing and that it might have an impact in Assam.

Sarma appealed to everyone to be cautious and at the same time the situation needs to be monitored thoroughly.


"We have to be cautious we must also infuse hope among the Hindu samaj in Bangladesh," Sarma said.

Asked about the recent arrest of some Jihadi elements from Assam, Sarma said that Jihadi elements have been active in Assam. At least for the last ten years.

"For the last ten years we have been witnessing Jihadi activities here. Security of Assam has always been a concern. I am sure there are still some sleeper cells active in Assam.Assam's security will remain a concern untill there is a substantial improvement in geo-political situation".
