Sitaram Yechury reaches out to Jagan Mohan Reddy

NEW DELHI: CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury called up YSR Congress leader Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday seeking the latter’s support for fielding a consensus candidate for the presidential election.

Yechury met BJD leader Navin Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on Thursday for the same purpose.

Jagan Reddy is learnt to have reminded Yechury about his party’s issues with Congress. However, the CPM boss is learnt to have told the Reddy that the presidential election is a larger issue in which many Opposition parties, including even turf rivals such as CPIM, Congress and Trinamool Congress are trying to join hands by rising above local issues.
