KOLKATA: After BJP and Congress, it is the CPIM which has decided to meet the local people of Dhulagarh in Howarh district on Tuesday. CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechuri along with party MP Md.Selim and a team of party MLAs will meet the local people of Dhulagarh which had witnessed communal clashes recently. Later, Yechuri will address a CPIM gathering there on Tuesday afternoon, party sources said on Monday.

A BJP parliamentary team led by MPs Jagadambika Pal and Satyapal Singh along with the state party chief Dilip Ghosh had attempted to visit Dhulagarh on Saturday. But they were prevented by the police from visiting the area and held a demonstration to oppose police action.

Bengal Congress president and party MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also held a meeting at Dhulagarh on Sunday. Now it is Yechuri and CPIM leaders who will hold a meeting at the same spot on Tuesday. It is still not clear whether the police would allow the CPIM team to rush to Dhulagarh and hold a meeting there. But CPIM insiders suspect police action against them in holding their rally there.

Yechuri is in Kolkata now in connection with the two-day CPIM state committee meeting which started on Monday. He will also be there in the city and will go to Dhulagarh on Tuesday before leaving Kolkata for Delhi. CPIM leaders claim that BJP was trying to foment communal tension in Bengal and clashes between two communities in Dhulagarh was a result of that. The Marxists also came down heavily on Mamata Banerjee's government for not making adequate measures to prevent communal tensions.

"BJP is doing it's job of spreading communal tension across the state and Mamata's government is silent on the issue. We will condemn both the parties during our meeting at Dhulagarh on Tuesday," claimed a senior CPIM leader on Monday.
