Singur protests will shake investor confidence: Nath

NEW DELHI: Asking political parties to resolve the land row over Tata Motor's Nano car project, Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath today warned that incidents of protests will shake investor confidence, particularly in West Bengal.

"We have to attract investments... incidents and such events obviously shed the confidence of the investor, especially in the particular state in which it is," Nath said.

He said India is looking forward to the Nano project, adding that political parties should sit across the table to resolve the issue.

"So, I would really urge all political parties, if they have their concerns, to sit and resolve them," he said, adding such incidents are not good for the state in the long term.

Tata Sons Chairman Ratan Tata has threatened to take the Nano project out of West Bengal if violence and work disruptions continued at Singur.

Facing delay, the company has been racing against time to meet the October-December deadline for rolling out the world's cheapest car.
