Sikkim Police on lookout for Tamang's killers

Sikkim Police is on the lookout for suspects in the killing Madan Tamang.

GANGTOK: Sikkim Police is on the lookout for suspects in the killing of All India Gorkha League chief Madan Tamang as they could have fled Darjeeling and entered the state, senior police officials said on Monday.

The West Bengal Police has sent a list of names of suspects in Friday's killing, they said. Further details like physical descriptions and photographs have been sought, the officials said.

Police were informed that some injured Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) activists could have been brought to neighbouring Sikkim for treatment, but they ascertained that no one came here, according to the officials.

Police in West Bengal had said that 45 people have been arrested in connection with the killing of Tamang even as a search is on to trace GJM youth leader Dinesh Gurung, who is the alleged mastermind of the murder.

GJM President Bimal Gurung and its General Secretary Roshan Giri have been named in an FIR filed by the police in connection with the murder.

Charges of conspiracy have been brought against the two besides Gurung's wife Asha, the chief of Gorkha Nari Mukti Morcha, the outfit's Press and Publicity Secretary Harka Bahadur Chettri, Vice-President Amar Lama and GJM police wing GLP's 'commandant' Ramesh Aley.
