Sidhu could not bear to see a Dalit as CM: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday said Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief because he "could not bear to see a Dalit Chief Minister of Punjab.

The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday said Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief because he "could not bear to see a Dalit Chief Minister of Punjab.

"This shows that Navjot Singh Sidhu is against Dalits. One poor son was made the chief minister. Sidhu could not bear this. It is very sad," PTI quoted AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj as saying

AAP is looking to expand its expand its base in the upcoming elections in Punjab, where Dalits form more than 30% of the voting population.


Sidhu resigned from his post shortly after new CM Charanjit Singh Channi alloted portfolios to the new cabinet, but his letter to party president Sonia Gandhi did not give any reasion.

"The collapse of a man's character stems from the compromise corner, I can never compromise on Punjab's future and the agenda for the welfare of Punjab. Therefore, I hereby resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee," the letter said.
