Shootout in Green Park: 2 surrender to TV channel

Two people, claiming to be members of the Satya Prakash gang who managed to flee during a shootout with the police in Green Park area on Monday evening, have surrendered to a private TV channel in Noida.

NEW DELHI: Two people, claiming to be members of the Satya Prakash gang who managed to flee during a shootout with the police in Green Park area on Monday evening, have surrendered to a private TV channel in Noida. The two have been identified as Harpal and Nadir and have been arrested.

A senior police officer said the two were arrested during an interview to the news channel claiming that they were innocent and had nothing to do with the gang. They claimed that there were only two persons inside the car and not five as claimed by the police.

One of them claimed that he had gone to the area to meet his brother, one of the gangsters who was injured in the shootout, but fled as the gunbattle began.

The gang was planning to rob a bank in the area but the cops foiled their attempt. A shootout started between the gang members and the cops around 4 pm on Monday. While Harpal and Nadir managed to flee along with three others, their leader Satya Prakash alias Satte was captured along with three of his gang members, the cops said.

Soon after the encounter, Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs 25,000 on whosoever gave information about the white Santro in which the five had fled.
