GUWAHATI: Large scale arson continues in KarbiAnglong district of Assam. The administration has issued shoot at sight order to reign in the simmering protest. On Friday around 15 person including 11 policemen were injured in various violence related incidents.

Train movement to Upper Assam has severely impeded as around 300 meter of railway track damaged in KarbiAnglong. Railway authorities are not able to carry out the repair work following resistance from the protesters.

Train services across the state were affected by a 12-hour rail blockade called by different Bodo organisations to demand a separate Bodoland. Arson continues in the hill district and government offices continue to be the target of the arsonist. The protesters are demanding creation of separate state in the lines of Telengana.

The army staged a flag march in violence-hit Karbi Anglong district on Friday. Member of Parliament, Biren Singh Engti's rubber garden was set on fire by miscreants.

Deputy Commissioner of district, P.K Buragohain told ET, “Police had to open fire in some areas to quell the trouble. At Donkamakom under Hamrem sub-division a mob ransacked a police outpost and attacked policemen demanding the release of protesters”.

Several vehicles were also torched. The district will soon get five additional companies of security forces. Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, S.Hajong said, “Around five trains to Upper Assam were cancelled.” All Bodo Student's Union along with other organizations sat at the Kokrajhar railway station.

President of Karbi Students' Association Laiseng Engleng was arrested for inciting violence. IGP Law and order, S.N Singh said preventive arrests were being made to bring the situation under control and to prevent further violence.

There was also large scale violence in Lower Assam during the bandh called by the All Koch Rajbongshi Students' Union.
