Shocking Video: BJP attacks Mamata Banerjee government after another flogging incident in Bengal

A week after a flogging video surfaced on the internet, another shocking video from a Kolkata locality has gone viral, sparking outrage and drawing sharp criticism from the BJP against the Mamata Banerjee-led government. The BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of repeatedly committing atrocities against women in the state.

BJP's deputy in-charge for Bengal Amit Malviya condemned the incident and linked it to previous instances of violence against women.



"The flogging of Meherun Nesha in Bengal's Chopra was not an isolated instance of Mamata Banerjee's men dispensing instant justice," Malviya said on X.

He shared the viral video, which shows a group of men assaulting a woman, and alleged that TMC men often target women who reject their advances.

"TMC men usually target women, who turn down their overtures. Perhaps Mamata Banerjee can explain why her confidant Madan Mitra’s men are assaulting women with such impunity," Malviya added.

The West Bengal BJP also shared the video on X, highlighting the involvement of Jayanta Singh, reportedly a close associate of TMC MLA Madan Mitra.

"Emerging video from Taltala Club, Kamarhati: Shocking reports allege Jayanta Singh, a close associate of TMC MLA Madan Mitra, violently attacked a defenseless girl. This barbaric act under a government claiming to champion women's rights is a disgraceful stain on humanity. Immediate investigation and justice are non-negotiable," the post read.


The BJP's statements have intensified the ongoing debate about the safety and rights of women in West Bengal, and calls for immediate investigation and justice are being echoed by many.

Earlier, a disturbing video clip depicting a brutal assault on a couple allegedly involved in an illicit relationship sparked widespread outrage in West Bengal. The incident, which took place in Chopra, Uttar Dinajpur district, was reportedly sanctioned by a local 'salishi sabha' (Kangaroo court).
