Shocked and saddened at terror charge: Badaruddin Ajmal
GUWAHATI: Amid protests and allegations of his link with Bangladesh-based Jihadi forces, All India United Democratic Front ( AIUDF) chief Badaruddin Ajmal said the allegations are an evil design aimed at damaging the party and his personal image.

Ajmal sees a communal gameplan in the accusation. A news channel, quoting IB report, has stated the billionaire-turned-politician’s party has links with Jihadis and said that the AIUDF had sent youths from Assam to Bangladesh for training. The report had fuelled protests against the AIUDF in different parts in the state with several organizations burning the effigies of AIUDF chief.

Bajrang Dal has called a 12-hour bandh on Friday. Ajmal, who is a parliamentarian and alumnus of Darool Ulum, said that there were elements which did not want AIUDF to grow as a political force in the state. Ajmal added, "We are only a ten year old party and within this short period we have got 18 MLAs and three Lok Sabha MPs in Assam. This has made people scared of the increasing popularity of the party and they have been hatching conspiracy against the party."

BJP MP and former union minister Bijoya Chakraborty has upped the pressure on AIUDF and sought Centre’s intervention to look into the allegation seriously and take appropriate actions. Ajmal added, "Islam is for peace. One is not a Muslim to takes the path of terrorism. This is the stand I, my party and Jamiat have been very clear about."
