Shivinder Singh Sidhu sworns in as Goa Governor
Shivinder Singh Sidhu, a retired IAS officer, was sworn in as Goa Governor on Monday at a function held at Raj Bhavan here.

PANAJI: Shivinder Singh Sidhu, a retired IAS officer, was sworn in as Goa Governor on Monday at a function held at Raj Bhavan here.
Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Justice Swatanter Kumar administered him the oath in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Digamber Kamat and other dignitaries.
Goa Chief Secretary J P Singh read out the warrant of appointment by President of India Pratibha Patil. Sidhu will replace S C Jamir, who is transferred as Maharashtra Governor.
An IAS officer of 1952 batch, Sidhu was born on October 13, 1929.
He has served as Secretary to three chief ministers of Uttar Pradesh, served as District Magistrate, Kanpur and was also the Divisional Commissioner of Agra.
In the Central Government, he has served as the Secretary in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and various other important positions.
Sidhu has also served as Secretary General, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), an organ of United Nations, Canada-1988-1991.
He has authored several books including 'Steel Industry in India: Problems & Perspective, Aviation and Sustainable Tourism-Emerging Trends, New Horizons in Travel and Tourism-Asian Approach.
