MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena and BJP have decimated the opposition in Maharashtra and it is assumed that the two parties would storm to power in the Assembly polls to be held later this year. However, there is already a tussle between the two allies on who would be the next chief minister.

On Wednesday, the Sena mouthpiece Saamana called for a Sena CM the next year. The edit in Saamana appeared interestingly on the same day that CM Devendra Fadnavis was invited to the Shiv Sena’s foundation day celebrations in Mumbai.

While the BJP is maintaining that Fadnavis would be CM if the party comes to power, the Sena has been saying that the BJP had promised before the Lok Sabha polls that the two parties would share power in the next government in the state.

The Sena believes the sharing of power means the BJP and the Shiv Sena would have their CMs for 2.5 years each. This is being seen as a potential flash point for the future.

Interestingly, in his speech Uddhav hinted at this when he said: “ In future, we should be sharing things equally. Let us swear that we would not break our ties on Hindutva.”
