A delegation of Shiv Sena MP’s who met PM Narendra Modi to oppose the 9,900 mw Jaitapur Nuclear power Project was ‘sounded’ off by him for opposing the project.

A delegation of Shiv Sena MP’s who met Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi to oppose the 9,900 mw Jaitapur Nuclear power Project was ‘sounded’ off by him for opposing the project. The Sena MP’s who met Modi in Delhi to oppose the Jaitapur project were told by Prime Minister that they shouldn’t be opposing the project as it would be ‘beneficial’ for the country as it is going to bring in foreign investment.

Shiv Sena MP’s told Modi that they were opposed to the project in Jaitapur in Ratnagiri as Madban were the project was located in was in a earthquake seismic zone of 4 and housing the project and if an earthquake then it could have terrible consequences for the region. They also highlighted issue of fisheries and Mango orchards of farmers being affected due to the project.

On his part Modi told the Sena MP’s not to oppose the project as it would ‘transform’ the region. Regarding the environmental and other concerns, Modi is learnt to have told the Sena MP’s that he was not a technical expert and their concerns would be studied by the experts and would then take a decision. The project would have continue to go ahead, with Modi advising the Sena MP’s to stop opposing the project.
