Former Shiv Sena MP Anandrao Adsul has issued a stern ultimatum to the BJP, demanding to be made governor within 15 days or else he will file a curative petition in the Supreme Court challenging the validity of former BJP MP Navneet Rana's caste certificate, reported The Times of India.

Adsul claims that BJP has failed to honor its commitment made to him, which included a gubernatorial assignment.

Adsul's grievances date back to 2019 when Navneet Rana, supported by NCP, defeated him in the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency. Adsul questioned the legitimacy of Rana's caste certificate, a matter that reached the Supreme Court. In April, the Supreme Court upheld the validity of Rana's caste certificate. Adsul, now aligned with the Shinde-led Shiv Sena, contested the Amravati seat again this year as part of the BJP-Mahayuti alliance but lost.

Adsul alleges that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had promised him a governor's post in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He claims this promise was given in writing before the Lok Sabha elections. Adsul further mentions that the BJP had pledged two Union cabinet posts and two governor's roles to the Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena, but these commitments have not been fulfilled.

Adsul expressed his frustration over these unkept promises, stating, "It is BJP's responsibility to fulfil the promises made. I can't wait forever. I will move the SC and challenge the stay given in former MP Navneet Rana's caste certificate case."

He also revealed that despite assurances and written commitments, his name did not feature on the recent list of nine new governors announced by the Centre, which included appointments such as Haribhau Bagade, a former assembly speaker and BJP member, as the governor of Rajasthan. Adsul had hoped to be included in the subsequent round of governor appointments.

Additionally, Adsul expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of representation for the Shinde-led Sena in the newly reconstituted NITI Aayog. Neither Sena MPs nor their lone Union minister of state with independent charge, Prataprao Jadhav, were included in the lineup.

The mounting grievances of Adsul point to underlying tensions and unmet expectations within the BJP-Shinde Sena alliance. As Adsul awaits a resolution, his ultimatum puts pressure on BJP leadership to address his demands within the stipulated time frame to avoid legal escalations.
