MUMBAI: Stepping up attck on the Shiv Sena, senior Congress leader Narayan Rane today claimed the party wants to join hands with the BJP government in Maharashtra fearing that its MLAs might defect.

Addressing a press conference in Kankavli, Rane said the Shiv Sena has "double standards".

"The Shiv Sena which taught self respect, is desperate to get into the government in fear that its MLAs might defect. It is anti-BJP in Maharashtra, but it is not ready to quit the BJP government in Delhi," Rane said.

He slammed Sena president Uddhav Thackeray's two-day Konkan tour saying that he has come for tourism and nothing else.

Rane also questioned Shiv Sena's stand on development of Konkan, saying, "What have you done for the region all these years. Shiv Sena has opposed setting up of industries in Konkan in the past."

The Congress leader also lashed out at the ruling-BJP for misleading people of the state.
