MUMBAI: Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray was today admitted to the Lilavati Hospital here for a routine medical checkup.

"Uddhav ji went to the hospital this morning for a routine checkup and would be discharged later today. There is nothing to worry," said a Shiv Sena spokesperson.

The checkup is a follow-up of angioplasty procedures he underwent in 2012.

Thackeray underwent a second successful angioplasty procedure at Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra in November, 2012.

He had undergone the first angioplasty operation in July, 2012 after repeated bouts of unbearable chest pain. Tests had revealed multi-vessel blockages in his heart after which doctors had recommended two angioplasty surgeries.
