Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday slammed Shiv Sena (Uddhav) for neglecting Mumbai for decades and said the financial capital had suffered under the Uddhav Thackeray group.

"For the last 25 years, the city has suffered. There have been roads filled with potholes, the same roads are being repaired year after year and huge money is being spent on repairing these potholes. For years, untreated sewage flowed freely into the sea causing environmental pollution. After our government came to power we have instructed the civic body that the roads should be concretised and that the city's infrastructure be upgraded," Fadnavis said on Sunday.

The CM and Deputy CM inaugurated 320 infrastructure projects for the city executed by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The inauguration of projects on Sunday was the third in a series that the Shiv Sena (Shinde) and BJP have been inaugurating ahead of the Mumbai civic polls. The Thackeray group has been in power in Mumbai for the last 25 years and both the BJP and Shinde group want to wrest the BMC from Uddhav Thackeray group's grasp. The Thackeray group may find it tough to be politically relevant if it is not in power in the Mumbai civic body. Fadnavis claimed that the Uddhav group has been trying to claim credit for the projects which were being inaugurated. "They have never stepped outside their home in the last 2.5 years but claim they had executed these projects," said Fadnavis referring to the then chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.
