Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra questioned by ED for 9 hours in Bitcoin scam case

Enforcement Directorate today questioned actor Shilpa Shetty's husband and businessman Raj Kundra for more than nine hours as a "witness" in connection with a money laundering probe related to a bitcoin transactions case in Maharashtra.

The businessman was summoned at the ED's office here and was asked questions about the purported links of the alleged main accused of the case Amit Baardwaj with his businesses.

Coming out from the agency's office, Kundra told waiting reporters that he was called as a "witness" in the case as Bhardwaj, the alleged kingpin of the case, was unsuccessful in investing in a poker league promoted by him.


"Dear Media thanks for your breaking news across the country. I have given you all bytes outside the ED office where I was called as a witness to give evidence," he said.

The Enforcement Directorate had, in April, arrested the key mastermind and founder of GainBitcoin Amit Bhardwaj for allegedly duping investors worth Rs 2,000 crore.

Bhardwaj has been accused of duping 8,000 investors by promising returns through his bitcoin ventures.

This is not the first time that Raj Kundra has found himself in trouble. He faces a ban on all kinds of activities related to cricket after his involvement in the IPL betting scandal. However, he has challenged the ban in the Supreme Court after the Delhi Police gave him a clean chit in the case.

It is alleged that Bhardwaj and his associates allegedly duped investors to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore in Mumbai, Pune, Nanded, Kolhapur and other places in the state.
